Stoney Ginger Beer is about as South African as biltong and braais. It just belongs here.

It goes together with a South African road trip like peas and carrots. Like Forrest and Jenny.

Actually, scratch that. Jenny didn’t give a shit about Forrest and only came back once nobody else wanted her and Forrest had reached peak simp.

But I digress.

Stoney Ginger Beer is righteous.

This stuff is seriously gingery. Not some weak, watered-down ginger drink that gives you a vague hint that ginger might once have been somewhere in the building. Stoney has a proper kick to it, and that’s exactly why I love it.

And it needs to be ice cold.

Grab one from the fridge, get yourself on the road and head off along the Garden Route. Windows down, South African scenery rolling past, and a freezing cold Stoney Ginger Beer in your hand.

Obviously, don’t drink it while you’re driving. Pull over somewhere beautiful and enjoy it properly.

I’ve had plenty of ginger beers over the years, and honestly, Stoney is the best I’ve ever had.

It’s one of those little South African things that I miss when I’m away. You don’t necessarily think about it until you can’t get one. Then suddenly you’re dreaming about that first ice-cold bottle.
