Salinas Beach Restaurant: A Garden Route Lunch in Wilderness

Salinas Beach Restaurant is situated in Wilderness on the Garden Route, close to the Touw River mouth and directly beside Wilderness Beach.

I have always loved stopping here when travelling the Garden Route. The views over Wilderness Beach are excellent, the food is great, and after lunch you can take a walk along the beach before continuing your journey.

The restaurant is particularly well known for its seafood and fresh fish, with a menu that combines Mediterranean influences with local ingredients and dishes. Its position beside the beach makes it a useful lunch stop for anyone travelling through Wilderness.

The location is a big part of the appeal. From the restaurant you have views across the beach, river mouth and surrounding coastline. It is also close enough to the beach that you can easily get out and walk along the sand after eating.

Wilderness itself is one of the most attractive sections of the Garden Route, with beaches, rivers, lakes and indigenous forest all within a relatively small area. Stopping at Salinas gives you the chance to enjoy some of that landscape without spending the entire day at a restaurant.

At Convoy Tours, we like taking our clients to places where they can experience the Garden Route at a comfortable pace. Salinas works well because it combines good food with one of the area’s best coastal settings.

For me, it is simply a great place to stop for lunch, enjoy the view and stretch your legs on Wilderness Beach afterwards.
