A private Cape Peninsula tour includes some of the most memorable places in South Africa, including the African penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. However, visitors should allow for entrance fees when planning their day.
The following official rates are valid until 31 October 2026 and may increase after that date.
Boulders Beach Penguin Colony
The entrance fee to the main penguin viewing area at Boulders Beach is:
- International adults: R245
- International children aged 2–11: R120
- SADC adults: R110
- SADC children: R55
- South African citizens and residents: R55
- South African children: R26
Boulders Beach is one of the best places in the world to see endangered African penguins at close range. The entrance fees help SANParks protect the colony and its coastal habitat.
Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope
One entrance ticket covers the Cape Point section of Table Mountain National Park, including both Cape Point and the famous Cape of Good Hope sign.
The current fees are:
- International adults: R515
- International children aged 2–11: R250
- SADC adults: R225
- SADC children: R115
- South African citizens and residents: R110
- South African children: R55
Visitors claiming the South African or SADC rate must carry suitable identification. Cape Point and Boulders Beach are cash-free, so entrance fees must be paid by debit or credit card.
Total Entrance Fees for International Visitors
For most overseas visitors, the two main entrance fees come to:
- R760 per adult
- R370 per child aged 2–11
This covers entry to Boulders Beach, Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope.
Is the Cape Point Funicular Included?
The Flying Dutchman Funicular is optional and is not included in the Cape Point entrance fee. It carries visitors from the car park towards the old lighthouse.
The current return fare is:
- Adults: R115
- Children: R60
A one-way ticket costs R100 for adults and R52 for children. You do not have to use the funicular—the walk to the lighthouse is manageable for many visitors, and we allow enough time to enjoy it without rushing.
If an international adult visits both main attractions and takes the return funicular, the total cost is R875.
What About Chapman’s Peak Drive?
The standard toll for a light vehicle on Chapman’s Peak Drive is currently R68. Guests travelling with Convoy Tours do not need to pay this separately, as road tolls and normal transport costs are covered by the tour price.
